(Night in Cellar: All is dark and then the moon roof opens there is a chair with Merrill sitting there. The moon hits her and the chair turns around slowly. Merrill is shivering the chair stops turning and Merrill looks towards the stairs a door opens. We see the camera go up to Merrill and we see a flash of a weapon then another Merrill shows up. Merrill in chair looks at her)

Merrill in Chair – They’re here to kill me.

Merrill –Who? (Looks at person with gun)

Merrill in Chair – Them.

(Flash of the gun. Merrill crying and she screams and freaks out she stops and now she reaches for the other Merrill and a light shines on Merrill in chair and is gone. Next we she Merrill opening her jewellery box. She takes out something and then closes the box and goes to the next box and takes out earring. Drew then enters)

Drew – What are you doing?

Merrill – Preparing for my death.

Drew – Uh… you’re a vampire - - (Walks a little) you’re immortal.

Merrill – There comes a time for each of us to die. My time is soon.

Drew – You look pretty healthy to me, Merrill.

Merrill – It won’t end for me by natural causes. (Drew walks right up to her)

Drew – Look, whatever you’ve got inside your head is crazy, so stop scaring yourself, okay?

Merrill – (looks at him) I’ve had a “quivering.”

Drew – You’re sure?  (Merrill turns back to what she was doing)

Merrill – It’s not vary difficult to recognize a premonition of your own death.

Drew – What exactly did you see?

Merrill – I don’t want to talk about this right now, Drew.

Drew – Alright. Okay, fine. You had a premonition. You can either accept it or - -

Merrill – What? Change my destiny? It doesn’t work that way for us, Drew. We both know it.

Drew – May be it was, maybe it was like a bad dream.

Merrill – I wasn’t dreaming. (Looks at him) Sooner or later, you will come to terms with who you really are. I need to be alone now. (She goes back to her stuff. Drew just stands there for a while and then leaves.)

(In Office: We see an open book and Murdoch then closes the book. Drew is sitting in front of Murdoch)

Dr. Murdoch – What was the nature of her premonition?

Drew – She wouldn’t say. All I know is she’s certain she’s going to die, and soon.

Dr. Murdoch – (sighs) Well she could be right.

Drew – (stands) Don’t you think you’re taking this “fate” thing a little too far?

Dr. Murdoch - (walks) This is one destiny for humans and vampires that is ironclad.

Drew – She’s alive! (Murdoch stops) We both know she’s the most alive of any of us down there. And if she’s in danger, we need to do something about it!

Dr. Murdoch – You wanna challenge fate? Alright. I’ll help you anyway I can. (Drew leaves)

(Night in Cellar: Merrill is lighting candles. She blows out match and goes to her coffin that is covered with a cloth. She starts prying or chanting to her self. Drew comes down stairs and stops to watch her Marty then comes over to Drew)

Marty – What kinda table is she settin’?

Drew – This doesn’t concern you.

Marty – Do I detect something serious?

Drew – An impossibility for you.

Marty – I can be serious. Look… (Goes in front of Drew) look at my face… (Calms himself) Dead serious.

Drew – She had a quivering.

Marty – Oh… (Looks at her) She’ getting’ that ole time “I’m-about-to-be worm feed” feelin’, huh?

Drew – You just couldn’t resist.

Marty – (looks at Drew) I had it once.

Drew – You survived?

Marty – That’s a matter of opinion. (Looks at her) My maker saved me just in time.

Drew – So it’s not necessarily a death sentence?

Marty – (looks at Drew) It depends on how you look at it. I was sentenced back to life. (Drew leaves and Merrill looks at Marty) Don’t waste your time reading my mind. (She looks away) You have lot more important things to worry about. (He walks away)

(Morning in library: Sherry and Malcolm are at a table. Malcolm reading a book and Sherry working on homework.)

Sherry – Nothing like a good book on death to brighten your day.

Malcolm – (Quotes book) Did you know that when a Tibetan dies, they chant for several days until the soul is freed from the body so it can be reborn?

Sherry – I guess it beats rotting in some dark, dank coffin.

Malcolm – Leave it to Murdoch to have us study about death in different cultures.

Sherry – What do you think about life after death?

Malcolm – A lot of literature points to the possibility.

Sherry – It’s funny to think of death as a beginning instead of an end to things.

Malcolm – I would give anything to live forever.

Sherry – Even if it meant being a vampire?

Malcolm – Don’t talk to me about them. Especially since we had that spy in our midst, sent courtesy of Federal Agent Marian Hackett.

Sherry – Okay, let’s not talk about him or her. She gives me the creeps. (Goes back to work)

(Night in Cellar: Merrill blows out candles. The moon roof opens up. Merrill looks up at it from afar. She blows out the last candle. She walks to the stairs as she looks up at the moon roof. Drew then comes down the steps with a book in hand. Merrill stops)

Drew – Where you going, Merrill?

Merrill – It’s time.

Drew – You’re staying here, where it’s safe.

Merrill – Let it go, Drew. I have no choice.

Drew – Yes, you do.

(Merrill then is sitting on a chair in the middle of the room. Drew is standing beside her with the book opened.)

Merrill – I’m frightened. (Looks up at him)

Drew – I know. (Touches her shoulder) Tell me how your premonition starts. (Everything is black.)

Merrill – It’s all dark… (Moon roof opens up) I’m alone… (We see Merrill sitting in a chair) I’m sitting in this exact (the chair turns) spot… then I see it. (Merrill in chair looking and breathing)

Drew – What?

Merrill – (Breathing) Something’s coming towards me. (Big long breath in)

Drew – What is it?

Merrill – (breathing) I can’t make it out.

Drew – Try!

Merrill – I’m trying!!!

Drew – Use your powers! (Crouches down to her) I’ll recite the words, you fragment the images… see it… (See’s a gun) Remember it… (Flash of gun) Live it… (B.P.D.A patch) Moving… (Flash of gun) Breathing… (B.P.D.A patch) Hearing… (Flash to Merrill’s face) Watching… (Vision Merrill flipping out) Approaching… (B.P.D.A patch) Stalking…

Merrill – Hunting… (Flash of Hackett’s face) HACKETT!!! (Breathing and weeping)

Drew – (hugs her) Shhh! Shh! It’s okay, it’s okay…

(Upstairs Hackett standing there. Night in Murdoch’s office. Murdoch poring tea. Marian is sitting across from Murdoch)

Dr. Murdoch – This is hardly an appropriate (puts tea down) hour for a visit. Professional or personal. (He sits down)

Marian – I apologize but this couldn’t wait.

Dr. Murdoch – At least you’re not operating undercover like agent Gruber, the young male you sent here.

Marian – Young Ex-agent who’s now unwilling to reveal anything of what happened to him here.

Dr. Murdoch – Which you, of course, interpret to mean that something did happen to him here.

Marian – Listen… I have felt a definite lack of cooperation from some of your students, and in particular, so I acted…

Dr. Murdoch - …and so did I. If you ever pull a stunt like that again in my school, I swear I will do everything in my power to expose your agency, expose it for what it really is; a ridiculous obsession, at the poor taxpayers expense!

Marian – I apologize for my indiscretion, but not for my “obsession” as you call it. Vampires are real. It’s my duty to search and destroy them. (Reaches for devise) We call these “sweepers”, 9puts it on table) highly sensitive electronic sensors fine-tuned to vampiric energy patterns. (Murdoch picks it up) I wanna place them throughout your Academy…

Dr. Murdoch – (laughs and throws the devise on table) And if I refuse…?

Marian – Why would you, if you don’t believe in vampires?

Dr. Murdoch – All right, I’ll give my permission just this once, on one condition, if you don’t detect anything, you’ll leave my Academy alone. Agreed?

Marian – Agreed. 9picks up devise) I would like to use one of your students to assist me. 9puts dives away)

Dr. Murdoch – Oh, which one?

(In library: Marian sitting at table with laptop open and Malcolm sitting beside her. He looks upset)

Marian – This program is specifically designed to analyze energy wave patterns picked up by the sensors I’ve placed throughout Mansbridge… your job is to monitor this program, watching for any sudden surges or spikes as we call them, that would indicate vampiric activity. Any questions? (Looks at him)

Malcolm – Why did you send an undercover agent, instead of informing me?

Marian – Security reasons.

Malcolm – I see… I would have thought you could trust me.

Marian – Actually… I had wanted you for the assignment, but I was unable to convince my superiors. (Malcolm gets all happy and sits up)

Malcolm – Really…?

Marian – Hmm!

Malcolm – Are you married?

Marian – No, Malcolm. My job doesn’t allow for such things.

Malcolm – Boyfriend?

Marian – Don’t you think we better stick to business for now?

Malcolm – Piece of cake. If there’s any vampiric activity, I’m on it like white on rice.

Marian – Excellent. I know I can count on you. (They go to work)

(Drew in his mind-traveling mode goes back from the library to where he is asleep in his coffin. His eyes shoot open. Little later Karl and the others are together.)

Karl – Look, jam the sensors, then she’ll never know we’re here. (Walks some way)

Marty – Oh brilliant, Karl. But how do you propose we do that without setting them OFF (Drew walks in) in the first place?

Karl – Oh, so we just waste her, right? (In Marty’s face) Isn’t that your usual genius response?

Marty – I’d do it with pleasure. (Walks by Essie and stops)

Essie – Yah, and then get every B.P.D.A agent down on Mansbridge in (snaps fingers) 60 seconds. The woman is wired. (Sits down) I mean even her vital signs are probably monitored.

Marty – Great. (Goes to Merrill) So Merrill’s fate becomes our fate.

Merrill – That’s not what my premonition told me. I am to die alone.

Marty – Oh, the one sacrificed for the many. Storybook. Truly.

Drew – That’s NOT how it’s going to be.

Essie – Whatever you say, as long as I’m not the one to die. (Merrill leaves and Drew goes too)

(In library: Murdoch walks in with Marian Hackett behind him. Sherry is sitting at a table)

Dr. Murdoch – I didn’t agree to a privet interrogation of one of my students.

Sherry – It’s okay. Let’s just get this over with.

Dr. Murdoch – 5 minutes. No more. (Marian puts down case on table and has a folder in her hand)

Marian – I’ve learned a few things about you, Ms. Woods. (Toss’ the folder to Sherry)

Sherry – You are in the spy buz.

Marian – Truancy and discipline problems. Five schools in the last 3 years, and… an arrest record.

Sherry – I ran away. My parents over-reacted.

Marian – You were 13 at the time. Hardly capable or responsible enough to be on your own.

Sherry – Says you.

Marian – Why do I always feel that you’re not telling me the truth? Are you incapable of it?

Sherry – I told you what I know.

Marian – What you didn’t tell me was that you met a strange boy in this very library. And his purpose for being here?

Sherry – He was checking out the school.

Marian – At midnight? C’mon Sherry, you can do better then that.

Sherry – That’s what he told me.

Marian – Let me tell you what I think – (She sits beside Sherry) I think he was a vampire, cruising for a kill.

Sherry – No way.

Marian – You know that for sure?

Sherry – You’re ridiculous.

Marian – No. You’re just not a very good liar.

Sherry – I’m not lying.

Marian – No, but you’re not sure. I can see it in your eyes. (Murdoch enters)

Dr. Murdoch – That’ll be enough for tonight. (Marian gets up)

Marian – He was a vampire, wasn’t he? Isn’t that what you think, Ms. Woods?

Dr. Murdoch – I said that’s ENOUGH. (Sherry gets up and leaves. Murdoch goes too.)

(Night in Office: Merrill stands in the secret doorway. In the Library: Marian is typing and Malcolm comes in and sits down with his laptop.)

Malcolm – How’d it go?

Marian – (Sighs) Trust me, there are things about this job you really don’t wanna know about.

(In Office: Merrill starts to walk into Office. Drew walks in behind her)

Drew – Merrill… stop this. (She stops walking)

Merrill – Go away. There’s nothing you can do. (He walks up to her)

Drew – What if your fate and my fate are joined?

(In Library: Malcolm is looking at Computer and the image on it starts to fluctuate. He points to screen)

Malcolm – Agent Hackett…? (Still pointing)

Marian – What? (She just types and then when he doesn’t answer she looks back at Malcolm and goes over to him) I knew it! (Types on keyboard) It’s coming from his study. (She goes over to her bag and gets gun and leaves. She’s in his office looking around and then goes over to the cellar door. Then walks away from it and stops) Murdoch…!!

(In Cellar: Essie clothes come down from above. She is holding two outfits out and looks in her dress.)

Essie – Hoh, we have to get out of here.

Marty – (walks past Merrill) Nice work, Merrill. Seems your self-sacrifice has now become a group activity.

Drew – We’ve got to think. (Karl gets up from chair)

Karl – No, thinking time is over—I’m with Essie, let’s get out of here. (Starts to go)

Drew – You wont survive! The only way out is through Murdoch’s study.

Marty – So we rush her. She may take down one or two of us before we wipe her out. (Essie walks between the others)

Drew – Let’s see how Murdoch play’s this out. (Drew walks away, Merrill walks after. Then Karl and Marty goes last)

(In Lobby: Marian looking around the room. Looking for any signs of Murdoch I would guess)

Marian – Murdoch…? (Murdoch comes through a door)

Dr. Murdoch – We have people sleeping (she turns around and points gun at Murdoch) Upstairs. What do you think you’re doing? (She points gun down at her side and Murdoch goes up to her) I will not under any circumstances allow firearms on these premises.

Marian – My equipment detected vampire activity on these premises.

Dr. Murdoch – Whatever the reason… firearms are - -

Marian – This is out of your hands now! (Starts to walk past Murdoch) I need some equipment from the car. Give me a hand… (Malcolm looking from afar. Marian stops at doorway and turns) or should I conclude you’re on their side? (Leaves room and Murdoch starts to go after her but pauses and looks at camera)

(In Cellar: Merrill, Drew and Marty are lining on table together)

Merrill – (breathing) It’s happening, just as I for saw.

Marty – We have a game plan do we?

Drew – We’ll find one.

(In Office: Marian has put on this devise to detect vampires and she has this big gun. Murdoch is with her.)

Marian – (hold up gun) Time to sweep your precious wine cellar.

Dr. Murdoch – I hope you won’t be disappointed by a few dusty bottles.

Marian – Open the door… (He hesitates) Open it! (He goes to the secret door and opens it.) Lead the way. (Murdoch turns and goes in first, She follows. Once in they both stop) Where’s the light switch? (He pushes the gun with a light on it out of his face)

Dr. Murdoch – It’s an old cellar, Ms. Hackett.

Marian – Get me some light! (He pushes a button and the moon roof opens up. We see a chair in the middle of the floor. Marian starts to walk down stairs, Murdoch follows. They get to the bottom of the stairs and the detector beeps high) Vampire! (She gets close to chair and nodes to Murdoch to turn chair around. He goes to chair and turns it around) Malcolm!?!?!

Malcolm – (drunk) Hey, baby! (She puts gun down)

Dr. Murdoch – (laughs) So much for modern technology. (She taps the device and it goes back to normal)

(Night in Cellar: Drew goes over to Merrill who is sitting there writing.)

Drew – Hey… (She looks up)

Merrill – Hey…

Drew – Anything quivering/ (they chuckle and he sits beside her)

Merrill – So you did tempt fate…

Drew – Yeah, well, it’s about time somebody did.

Merrill – Tell me - - where did you get the idea to use Malcolm as a channel for our energies?

Drew – Well, survival is the mother of invention.

Merrill – Thank you.

(He touches her on the shoulder and gets up and leaves. She just smiles. Malcolm is in library reading Marian Hackett’s book.)

Dr. Murdoch – A vampire’s deception, no matter how intricate is only temporary… agent Hackett will be back no doubt, to try and explain the inexplicable… for that is her mission. (Merrill brushing her. Drew watching) While my mission is to keep the Mansbridge experiment alive… at any cost.
